Mario Matthews
Mario Matthews is a well-trained and versatile actor, working in film, television, live performances and musical theater and commercials. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Music from the University of Oklahoma City University. He went on to earn graduate Masters of Fine Arts from the prestigious Savannah College of Art and Design on a full scholarship. After graduate school, Mario continued working on his craft at the prestigious Acting Studio in New York City, The New York Stage and Film Company, and Gray Studios in Los Angeles.
Mario's feature film work includes a gripping portrayal of the sadistic and sinister robot "Derek" in the award-winning film THE DINNER GUEST; as well as the lead role of "Frank", an alcoholic domestic abuser, in another award-winning independent film THE PERIPHERAL; "Robert Saw", an evil power hungry scientist, in the sci-fi thriller IMPULSE; and "Albert", a sexually predatory Artistic Director of a Ballet Company in the indy film GISELLE.
Mario toured with several national and international companies, portraying the lead of "Horton the Elephant" in SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL in New York; performing and understudying in the role of "Sky" in the US National tour of MAMMA MIA!, performing and understudying the roles of "Nick" and "Joe" in FAME throughout an international tour of South Korea, and ; he played "Richie Valens" in THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY at the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse in NY; and "Luntha" in THE KING AND I also mounted in New York at the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse.; and singing in THE RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR featuring THE ROCKETTES.
He is based in LA, working frequently in New York and the Southeast US.
